I first heard it in the crib. It was newer then, a lot newer. I sing it to a photo now an' then, when the heart's cold & the guitar's warm. We all have Ghosts..

Hmm.  Unchained Melody was from a rather obscure 1950s prison movie titled Unchained.  The movie version (I think) was sung by Al Hibbler and has been covered by dozens of others.  I have a copy of the Al Hibbler version on a 78 from my parents' collection.  I remember it from when I was quite small.  The Righteous Brothers' version is from 1965.
