"I wanted to save you.
I saw in your eyes sadness,
in your body abuse,
but you knickered to me and said hello,
and I wanted to save you.

A warm place, deep in straw.
Some warm treatment, with meds and food,
three days of neck rubs,
shared breath,
my soul trying to absorb your pain.

Last night I lay cold in your stall,
you lay beside with your head in my lap,
and I prayed for the vet,
though the snow was quick and deep.

I covered you with a blanket when you shivered,
and my coat.
And I wanted to save you.

I called on my gods,
in my native tongue,
and bid them guide you home,
as your breath came ragged and short.

Little nameless filly,
I wanted to save you,
I hope in some way I did..."

She died early this morning, unnamed, but not unloved.
I have to fire up the backhoe, and dig the frozen ground yet before I sleep. But I want to name her.
Good journey Rea`lte Rian...

Sadly, I have been there before.
It stays with you, always
So we live on for their legacy and memory
It's all we can now do for them

I had her 3 days only, but I wanted her to live. So little memory, but one that'll haunt me forever.
