Song lyrics are a form of poetry, so here's one titled "My Lady In White", from my Zoo story-in-progress, "Sandey".
Presented in the story as being written by Bertram (Cap'n Bert) Atwater, it is a lament for his lost love. Because the character speaks in a maritime fashion and has a speech impediment, due to old wartime injuries, the off-spelling is deliberate, and reflects those factors.
This is the "long" version, where he is later singing it to himself, and the end is overheard, with a single-word penultimate line added. This fuller version is never heard or presented in its entirety, except here.
I have a melody for it also, but I cannot write music. However, if you have ever heard the song "Maiden Wine" from the Star Trek episode "Plato's Stepchildren", written by Leonard Nimoy, and performed by him as his character Mr. Spock under telekinetic force by "The Platonians", the melody, though different, has a similar "flavor" and conveys a similar, though greater sense of melancholy.
And who is this "lady In White"? You'll just have to wait for chapter 5.
So here is the song. Or lyrics, or poem, or whatever it is.
And it is dedicated to all that have ever had a special "Lady" (or Gent), and lost them.

My Lady In White
(A song of lament by Cap'n Bert)
My Lady in white
As fair as can be
You are my life
come back to me.
O' Lady in white
With accents in black
Such beauty You hold
Such grace that I lack.
As white as a Dove
Her spirit so free
How could She love
Somebody like me?
As ugly I am
She gave not a damn
What did She see
That drew Her to me?
This Lady in white
She lit up my life
If only I could have
Made Her my wife.
Dear Lady in white
I beg You to stay!
But She took to flight
An' then sailed away.
You came in th' spring
My heart moved to sing
You left in th' fall
My heart in a pall.
Life was so grand
Bright an' with cheer
Now it is bland
Hoary an' drear.
Come back my dear Lady
Don't stay away
Please don't say "maybe"
We CAN find a way!
My Lady in white
As fair as can be
You are my life
Come back to me.
I love You, dear Lady...
PLEASE
Come back to me!
