Good news and bad news re BF
#11

Kind of a shame seems to me.  The admin totally sucked, Emperor of All sorts, but the collapse shows how far the zoo community has declined.  50 years ago there was no 'net, it was all small local groups, no law against it, it was "your own business".   Then the net let you talk to people everywhere.  Now nowhere is safe anymore, legal has chased everyone underground, everyone is afraid (or better be) to meet anyone else, for fear of entrapment by legal or outing by "righteous" animal rights activists.

I do kind of agree with you HH, though I have to say that the net has been a big help to Zoos like myself who have trouble navigating the outside world (eyesight problems and all). A lot of the messes were our own doing in some way. Things like the Hands Incedent blew us up in the public eye and caused a lot of morral highgrounding. That was Ken's fault too he was being an idiot that night.

BF's 'fall' was because of some of the content and practices they allowed: not just the terrible admins, though that goes hand and hand. Allowing people to offer money to sex up their animals, 'seeking woman for dominant canine stud! Must allow me to watch!', and the numerous videos (let alone images) that were dubious at best on the part of the animal's consent and enjoyment...

They started with something great, an idea for a Zoo-focused message board (even though it was more a fan service of a porn site..) and allowed money and 'the quest for taboo' to ruin it.

They attracted the wrong crowd, whom paid them well: then continued to support them, now it's biting them under the tail like a pesky flea.

i feel OLD seeing that they have been on line 17 years  ... i was actually one of the original beta testers ... when they first came online as an offshoot of beastchat

but even from the very beginning, the only reason it was started was because of the traffic flow to the chat .. a way to gather people and make money from them

never really bothered much with the forum once they started all the meet up stuff, and porn to attract more patrons ... i was and have always been more into the chatting with new zoos needing help to keep themselves and the companions they love safe.

any forum once it gets busy will attract more fetish users, trolls and such ... on smaller forums it is much easier to ignore the giveme's, and discover the genuine good people you would not mind knowing in real life.

law of percentages, if there is one beastie, one fetishist, and 2 wankers for every decent person .... thats' a lot people you want nothing to do with in a thousand members. How many is there if there is 10,000 members.

small forums are slow and at times near boring, but you do not have 1k posts a day to wade thru to find 1 post you want to read.

This is very true, and strict moderation right from the get-go helps tha case a lot. You may stay small, but your community is strong and wankers are to a minimum.

I doo too Adolpha.. I hope we stay around a long time as well. We're far from the only: true zoo or fetish. Most are gated a little heavier, try to make things work on Social Media discretely: or are on the Darknet.

The biggest problem with Darknet Zoo sites is they are mainly porn focused: some of them even hosting child porn.. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":(" width="20" />

I think the admins are doing pretty well here.. We're not a -huge- forum, they watch close and try to prevent arguments from spilling too far out of control: most importantly, they have very strict rules on what is, and isn't allowed to be posted content wise.

Something that made me laugh was a member asking are there any other sites still operating out there...

And then promptly getting banned for inquiring about other sites!

And, to complete the set, Southy puts up a thread asking what other sites you may go to.

 Did it get many replies?

There are some people here, and on a couple of other places, that I would be willing to meet in person.

And there are a few that are on my buttwipe list.

 The rest are in between.

 You are forgetting one.

 Though I actually have 3.

But 2 I did as a sort of backup, in case the main forum crashed (again).

However, I moved to a separate server, it was hosted where this is, as it kept crashing.

Only had one crash after the move, and has not crashed in around 3 years now.

I'm working on the bloody SSL certificate. Those really in  the know just bypass the warning they get.

There IS NO danger from my site, PERIOD!

A certain party took a hiatus, and has still to be heard from.
