With the wear I wouldn't expect it to have much numismatic value (though I'm hardly an expert in grading coins or just anything to do with US coins in general) but being a 1944 Mercury dime it's content is .900 silver. Its value will be slightly above the current silver spot price. The coin contains 2.25 grams of fine silver so a value at the time of writing of $1.13.
I think its worth keeping. I collect Canadian silver content coins. It is nice to be able to realize there was a time when money actually had value and wasn't just pulled out of thin air.
I collect ancient coins, mostly roman/greek types. A lot of silver pieces, gets expensive quick going above that!
