The smell and taste is very much an individual thing. I've been with some that were wonderful and others who definitely had an unpleasant smell. I love oral when they are in standing heat and not bleeding. The blood at other stages of the heat cycle puts me off.

personally i enjoy the taste and scent throughout the heat cycle, but to each their own. I can certainly see how its an aquired taste.




Its also a bit different between individual dogs even of the same breed.  my older kuvasz Molly for example is more potent in terms of scent and flavor, while my younger kuvasz Karen is much milder smelling, and less metallic/tangyness to her flavor. and they are related (mother and daughter), so I would imagine the scent/taste can vary even moreso between unrelated dogs and different breeds.
