And, oddly, life as he knows it will end at that date.  Sounds like a STNG episode.

Ahem, by reaching that date, I am an active member of the online "zoo" community for fucking 30 years. Is it so strange for you to call it quits after that long time in order to enjoy the rest of my life with my mares uninflunced by online drama, fights and all the other little and big discomforts it brings? When I´ll turn 50, I will have spent more than half of my life in various "zoo" forums...and I say I did my time with that. Really so odd? What starts some day has to end some day, and my day will be the 6th of January in 2022.

Why no, I think it's quite charming.  Move to a retirement village somewhere where they have hurricanes, live in a small house with brightly painted trim, with 12 cats named after Disney characters, with no internet and a small garden with bright lights in the basement.  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":D" width="20" />

not exactly answer to post itself, but to title  of this thread alone...

I come across such idea as Dunbar number - maximum number of beings you meaningfully can relate with ...It was said to be around 100-150 humans (beings?) at most, and as you probably know from real life real number of beings (humans or not) you really can care about, time- and memory- and effort- wise is much smaller. So, may be this is important thing too - single organization of humans beyond even just simple number of members will function quite ..differently  from intended, and basically in wrong direction 'differently'

He noted it would be or proximate to his 50th birthday.  I opined that the hard birthdays are the ones with zeroes on the end.  My experience is that they have been.
